We can understand a mother's love for her children, the husband and wife's love for
each other and our love for our brothers and sisters in Christ. But, how can we
understand why God would love us as sinners and enemies against His? In this passage
we see some of the greatest blessings that could ever be given to anyone.
I. We Are Chosen (1:4)
- In Christ (In the merit of another)
- Before the foundation of the world (Grace)
- To be holy and without blame in live (Purpose)
II. We Are Predestined
- To the Adoption of Children (vs 5; Galatians 4:1-7)
- To an Inheritance (vs 11)
- To the Image of His Son (Romans 8:29-30)
- His Image (Galatians 5:22-23)
- We shall be like Him (1 John 3:1-3)
III. We Are Accepted (1:6-8)
- As a result of His Redemption (1 Peter 1:18-20; Romans 3:24-26)
- As a result of His Righteousness (Romans 3:26)
Conclusion
--We are secure in His Love (Romans 8:31-39)
