Blessed Hope
A Continuing Ministry of Milford Cecil
It is a blessing to our hearts when we consider the uniqueness of the Bible. There
is none other like it in all the world. Men and women have written many books, but
there is nothing ever written that will transform the human heart like God's Holy
Word.
1. The Bible is Indispensable There is no way that we could live a Christian
life pleasing to God without the Bible. (Deuteronomy 8:3; Job 23:12; Matthew 4:4;
Romans 4:12; 1 Peter 2:1-2).
2. The Bible is Inexhaustible The Bible reveals the thoughts and ways of God
which cannot be exhausted. There is no end to the depth of God's thoughts (Psalms
45:5; Romans 12:33).
3. The Bible is Infallible The Bible is sure and certain. There are no
contradictions in it. It is a sure anchor for our lives (Matthew 5:18; Psalms 119:1-8;
119:89-91)
4. The Bible is Indestructible All down through the ages the devil and
mankind have tried to destroy the Bible but it still stands today. The Word of God
will never pass away. (Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 24:35)
5. The Bible is Incorruptible The Bible is true and holy. Only the truth is
recorded about God and man. (1 Peter 1:23-25; John 17:17)
II. The Benefits of the Bible
1. The Bible is the Channel of Salvation We are saved through the
preaching of the gospel of Christ. The source of truth concerning the gospel is the
Bible, God's Holy Word. (Romans 1:16; 10:13,17; 1 Corinthians 1:18-21; 1 Peter
23-25)
2. The Bible is the Channel of Faith As we learn the Word of God our faith
increases. Faith does not come by experiences and emotions. Our faith does not
rest on these things, but it rests on the Word of God. (Romans 10:17)
3. The Bible is the Channel of Spiritual Purification There is cleansing
power in the Word of God. If we obey it, it will keep us from sinning against God.
Even when we sin it leads us to the place of conviction, repentance and confession.
(Psalms 119:69; John 15:3; 17:17; Galatians 3:16-17)
4. The Bible is the Channel for Spiritual Power God honors His Word,
therefore we are to use it in all our service. (Ephesians 6:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
The Blessing of the Bible
|
The Bible is the most prized possession in all the earth. It is the only way that we can
know the things concerning God. It is a supernatural Book that is a great blessing to
all who will read and obey it's precepts. In this lesson we want to learn some of the
blessings that come from the Bible that will encourage us to ready and study it more.
Ingersoll held a copy of the Bible and said, "In fifteen years I'll have this book in the
morgue." Fifteen years rolled by, Ingersoll was in the morgue and the Bible lives on.
Voltaire said that in one hundred years the Bible would be an outmoded and
forgotten book, to be found only in museums. When one hundred years was up,
Voltaire's house was owned and used by the Geneva Bible Society. And recently
ninety-two volumes on Voltaire's works, a part of the Earl of Derby's library, were
sold for two dollars! The Bible lives on!
Lesson Aim: In this lesson we want to learn some things about the uniqueness and
the benefits on the Bible.
