This Psalm was designed to be sung in the view of the mountains of Jerusalem. As
the people traveled to the House of God, it was a dangerous trip. As soon as they
arrived, they sang (Psalm 122). As they looked unto the hills for help, so can we.
Let us look to some of the mountains Jesus was on and find help.
I. The Mountain of Temptation (Matthew 4:1-10)
- Not use our gifts for self-glory. (vs 3-4)
- Not to tempt God. (vs 5-7) [Disobedience; Rebellion]
- Not to seek the things of the world. (vs 8-10)
II. The Mountain of Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-8)
- The Lord in His glory. (vs 1-2)
- Moses - Redeemed, passed through death. (vs 3-4)
- Elijah - Redeemed, entered through translation (vs 3-4)
- The One we are to follow. (vs 5-8)
III. The Mountain of Redemption (Luke 23:33)
- Our sins paid for.
- Our Salvation secured.
- Everlasting salvation
- Eternally secure
IV. The Mountain of Ascension
- The Ascension (vs 10)
- The Promise (vs 11)
- The Mountain (vs 12; see Zech. 14:4)
