In this Psalm we see the Psalmist dealing with a problem that has been an ancient
stumbling-block for all good men down through the ages. The heather philosophers
have been puzzled about it. The problem is this "Who do the wicked prosper, have
greater success and fever troubles than the righteous?" Have you ever faced this?
TS: As the Psalmist reveals his experience, we see:
I. His Conflict (73:1-15)
- The Contrast (vs 1-2)
- The Cause (vs 3-5)
- The Character (vs 6-12)
- The Complaint (vs 13-14)
- The Caution (vs 15)
II. His Conquest (73:16-28)
- His Understanding (vs 16-22)
- God's Presence (vs 23-24)
- His Praise (25-28)
Conclusion
In this Psalm we have seen the Psalmist take this problem into the very presence of
God, states the problem and then views it from God's viewpoint. As the result, he
looks at the things as God looks at them. If we will all do this, we will see things
coming into clearer focus and find peace and comfort as we move toward our
heavenly home.
