Divine Provisions
Introduction to the Book
The book of II Peter deals with the dangers that the church will be facing as the end
of this age draws near. We are in that time. Peter (1) warns us not to wander from
the foundational truths of the Bible; (2) of false teachers; (3) and how we should live
in the light of the coming "Day of the Lord."

Outline of the Book
I. Establishing of Our Faith (Chapter 1)
II. Exposing False Teachers (Chapter 2)
III. Encouragement for the Future (Chapter 3)

Sermon Introduction
As Peter establishes us in the faith, in (1:1-11) he shows us the Divine provisions
God has given us. There are three things we want to look at:

I. Our Salvation (1:1-2)

  1. Its Gift (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  2. Its Ground (Romans 3:23-26)
  3. Its Goodness (vs 2; Romans 5:1; Philippians 4:5-9)

II. Our Strength (1:3-4)

  1. The Power of God (vs 3)
  2. The Promises of God (vs 4)

III. Our Stability (1:5-11)

  1. The Process (5-7)
  2. The Purpose (8-9)
  3. The Promise (10-11)

Conclusion
If we will read and take to heart the things Peter is teaching us here, we will be
established strong in the faith. We will be prepared for the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ. Remember, the first preparation is to be saved.
