Applying God's Word in Our Life
The Christian life requires both diligent study and consistent application of the Word
of God. We must study the Bible and apply it's commands to our lives.

I. The Purpose of Application

    1. To help us grow spiritually
            a) Knowledge (2 Peter 3:14-18)
            b) Obedience (Ezra 7:10; James 1:22-25)
    2. To keep us from error (1 Timothy 4:1-6)

II. The Process of Application

    1. Interpretation - 3 keys
            a) Study it literally - recalling that figurative or symbolic language and
    figures of speech are a part of normal language.
            b) Study in its context
            c) Study it progressively
    2. Determination
            a) If it is a command
            b) If it is principle

III. The Practice of Application

    1. Depend on the Holy Spirit
    2. Develop your system
            a) Written record
            b) Ask yourself questions        
                    *Is there a command to obey?
                    *Is there an error to avoid?
                    *Is there a sin to forsake?  
                    *Is there a truth for me to claim?
     3.Personal Response
            1) "I will" application
            2) "I am responsible" application
            3) "Prayer" application
