Bent With Care

As seasons of life took their toll
And months slowly turned into years
My once strong, caring mother
Became bent from her toil and her care.

Spring was the season of beginning
A birth as a tiny rosebud came forth
Hair white as cotton, skin soft and sweet
Delicate as rose petals from head to tiny feet

Summer was the season of sowing
Planting, working, and weaving of lives
Helpful daughter, faithful wife, loving mother
Tirelessly caring for family and others

Fall was the season of reaping
Enjoying the fruit of her days
Though enjoyment was but for a season
The petals began slipping away

Winter was the season of hardship
Age and life's work took their toll
A once strong, beautiful person
Was bent with care from the toil

The winter was not meant to linger
God said it's time for spring - eternal, glorious spring!
And my once again strong, caring mother
Is at home with her Heavenly King!
